Octopus - because snakes aren't hard enough
These animals are fascinating (and hard to draw, especially when you can't erase). The method I used for this mug involves carving out everything that will be black, applying the underglaze over the entire mug, and then carefully scrapping or sanding the surface to remove the pigment from the top surface. It's labor intensive, but creates depth and lines like nothing else.
