After undergrad I worked in Alaska and California as a fisheries biologist and also worked as a sushi chef. I became (further) infatuated with fish - later focusing on sustainable fisheries during my grad school studies. Which is to say, the only thing about my formal education I've carried into my ceramics career are these fish mugs.
